This first Topps issue and rookie card of Redwings great Gordie Howe is offered in a spectacular PSA NM-MT holder with only three examples graded higher. Hall of Famer Gordie Howe was the hockey player that all future stars (Gretzky, Orr, Hull, Lemieux, etc.) were measured against as evidenced by his total goals and points records that were eventually bested by Gretzky. One of Howe’s most popular images is portrayed as he skates with his majestic red uniform, stick in hand towards another potential goal. The blemish free white background and sharp edges and pinpoint corners provide a spectacular projection of Howe and the back of the card, with its red, white and blue color scheme is aesthetically pleasing. All attributes certainly support the high-end PSA grade. Overall, this is a great vintage hockey card of one of hockey’s greatest skaters ever to augment your sports cardboard collection. This lot features a 1954 Topps Gordie Howe card No. 8 graded an 8 by PSA. This card shows a portrait of a young Howe. The colors are very vibrant with this example. Only four have been graded higher than this example out of 623 cards total graded by PSA.
