Offered is a spectacular example of Willie’s 1956 card with the gray back. It is well centered, just a touch to the horizontal left side. The corners are square and the image and color are sharp and crisp. Willie had a slight off year in 1956, but showed his power, speed combination by clubbing 34 home runs and stealing 40 bases. It was his closest season to a 40-40 year, but I bet if Willie knew that it would be an important milestone years later, he would have had many of those seasons. Of the 3,737 Grey Back versions in PSA’s population reports, only 32 have been graded Mint, with no 10s in existence.
