In ’58, Mantle was coming off of his second consecutive MVP season, having hit a career high .365. This was Mantle’s golden era, where he was considered the top player in the American League, if not all of baseball (although Williams, Musial, Mays and Aaron fans would argue). While not a flashy card, this Mantle portrait is a favorite of many collectors, because it provides a perfect look at the great slugger during his prime. A stellar example !
